  • Twitter set to display targeted ads for movie lovers
Your filmy conversations on Twitter are set to give the micro-blogging site a new way to display targeted ads.

The advertising move named “Movie Conversation” would display ads about a particular movie to users who have tweeted about similar movies or related keywords, said a report in Hollywood Reporter.

For instance, a Twitter user who follows @XMenMovies might see ads for soon-to-be-released superhero films.

The company will begin testing targeted ads about movies in the next few months.

“Our recent research shows that Twitter is major influence on movie choice,” Jeffrey Graham, global head of research at Twitter, was quoted as saying.

Not only are people hearing about new movies on Twitter, they are using it to make a decision about what to see, then sharing their experience with friends, he added.

Twitter has a similar programme in place for television shows.

By more carefully tracking conversations around movies, Twitter hopes to provide Hollywood studios with a larger, more accurate movie-going user base.
