20 Mar, 2014
Vancouver Fashion Week – Day 1

The first day of Vancouver’s Fashion Week (VFW) kicked off with a great start featuring talented designers from Brazil, Japan, Portugal, Denmark, Peru, Australia, Zanzibar and the United Kingdom.

VFW is gearing up for its biggest season on the catwalk to date hailing fashion enthusiasts from all over the world and expecting over 20,000 people in attendance.

Susana Bettencourt, from Portugal was first up on the runway, focussing her collection on knitwear. Bettencourt emphasizes delicate and detailed knitwear and bold embellishments that various pop stars such as Lady Gaga relish.

Other designers that showcased their designs were Nina Tan, Alano Edzerza, Green Embassy, Jin and Jacqueline, Pitour and Shelley Klassen.

Darpan Magazine had a fabulous time attending Day 1 of VFW, and our favourite designer of the evening was Gabriel Lage from Argentina, who ended the night with a big bang.

Lage launched his career in 1990 using haute couture as the foundation of his work. His work showed close attention to detail and a predominant European style, inherited by his father and grandfather.

Stay tuned for Day 2 updates and coverage!
