Bollywood Actors With Not So Famous Wives

Darpan News Desk IANS, 08 Jul, 2015 01:27 PM
  • Bollywood Actors With Not So Famous Wives
Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor broke a million hearts when he tied the knot with Delhi University graduate Mira Rajput here on Tuesday.

The “Haider” actor, who once dated actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, shocked many by marrying a woman outside the film industry. However, he is not the first star to marry a non-film personality.

The actor, who had earlier been linked to his co-stars including Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra, has now joined the league of celebrities like John Abraham and Imran Khan who took the unconventional route of marrying outside the film fraternity.

If Shahid's low-key wedding grabbed the attention of many, actress Minissha Lamba, too, got married to her long time beau Ryan Tham, the owner of popular Juhu nightclub Trilogy. The couple have been together for a while now and reportedly got married at a Mumbai court on Monday.

John's hush-hush wedding to investment banker Priya Runchal was also one of the most talked about events in 2014. The duo are said to have met via mutual friends in 2010. But at that time, the "Madras Cafe" star was dating actress Bipasha Basu, with whom he had a roaring affair for almost a decade before they broke up in 2011.

Actor Imran Khan also chose to marry his childhood sweetheart Avantika Malik. The “Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola” star has a one-year-old daughter Imara Khan with Malik.

In 2010, actor Vivek Oberoi married Priyanka Alva, daughter of Karnataka minister Jeevaraj Alva. The couple welcomed a daughter on the auspicious occasion of Akshya Tritiya in April. They also have a two-year-old son Viaan.

Other actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Emraan Hashmi and the likes have also found love outside the industry.

In the past, dancing diva Madhuri Dixit created ripples in the industry by marrying Shriram Madhav Nene, a cardiovascular surgeon from Los Angeles. The duo tied the knot in 1999 and have two sons Raayan Nene and Arin Nene.
