Criticism Hurts Terribly: Abhishek Bachchan

Darpan News Desk IANS, 21 May, 2016 02:24 PM
  • Criticism Hurts Terribly: Abhishek Bachchan
Actor Abhishek Bachchan has a strong fan following, but sometimes he gets criticised on the public platform for his work. The son of megastar Amitabh Bachchan says he gets bothered by criticism.

Be it his acting skills or his flop films, Abhishek, at times, gets slammed on social networking sites. Does it bother him?

"It does bother me. We are human beings. It hurts terribly. The sad thing is that you can get 100 compliments but that one criticism will ruin your day. As actors, when there is such a huge volume of love coming your way, we hold on to that one negative thought.

"...We want to entertain everyone, we want everybody to enjoy our work," Abhishek, who has starred in flop movies like "Dum Maaro Dum" and "Players", told IANS.

He shared that even if one percent of the audience says they don't like it, it "hurts you. It's very upsetting".

"Actors would be lying if they say criticism doesn't bother them. I have never looked upon criticism as negativity. I take it as an advice," he added.

The "Bol Bachchan" star considers his father his biggest critic.

He said: "He (Amitabh) shares his thoughts honestly with me and has always pointed out that I could have done it differently."

Abhishek will soon be seen in Sajid-Farhad's "Housefull 3", which also stars Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh.

Was there any insecurity while working with Akshay and Riteish?

He said: "I don't believe in actors being insecure. If you are confident about your job, you don't have to be insecure. Riteish and Akshay... we are good friends. I've known them for a long time on and off screen.

"There was absolutely no insecurity."

Abhishek, who has been exploring comedy in Bollywood, says he wants to stay away from adult comedies.

He said: "The basic concept of 'Housefull' is that there is a house which is full and there is chaos that's how I categorize 'Housefull'. I believe comedy never comes naturally to anyone. Comedy depends on the material.

"It is very difficult to do. Besides, I personally don't think I can do adult comedy. I don't think I have the ability to pull it off."

"Housefull" is a successful franchise and Abhishek says he was nervous before shooting for the film.

He said: "The initial reaction was 'Yes, let's do it'. The script is great, star cast was so much fun so, it was a yes. But before the shooting started, that was when I realized that it is a big franchise and I need to pay attention. That's when the pressure started building."
