  • Ghulam Ali to perform in Lucknow on Sunday
Pakistani ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali will perform at the Lucknow Mahotsav 2015-2016 here on Sunday.

The ongoing event flagged off on January 27 and is organised every year to showcase Uttar Pradesh art and culture and in particular Lucknavi ‘Tehzeeb’ (culture) so as to promote tourism.

"Yes. Ghulam Ali is here only. He will be performing tomorrow (Sunday) at the Lucknow Mahotsav," a government spokesperson told IANS.

The official Twitter page of the Uttar Pradesh government shared an image of the ghazal maestro, who is seen posing in an aircraft.

"Shri Ghulam Ali ji being welcomed by Principal Secretary, Mr. Navneet Sehgal at Lucknow today," the caption says.

Ghulam Ali, whose concerts in Mumbai and Pune were called off after Shiv Sena threatened to disrupt his live performances last year, will also attend the music launch of “Ghar Wapsi” on March 5 in Delhi.

Ghulam Ali will be making his acting debut with the Hindi feature film "Ghar Wapsi" for which he has also composed and lent his voice to a patriotic song.

The 75-year-old singer made an entry in Indian cinema with his popular song "Chupke chupke raat din" for B.R. Chopra's "Nikaah" (1982).
