I Learn Something New From Vishal-Gulzar Duo: Sukhwinder Singh

  • I Learn Something New From Vishal-Gulzar Duo: Sukhwinder Singh
Singer Sukhwinder Singh, who lent his voice for Vishwal Bhardwajs upcoming film "Rangoon" in which Gulzar penned all the songs, says that it is always a learning experience working with them.

"As the music and lyrics of the film is the collaboration of Vishal- Gulzar duo, whenever I work with them, I learn something new. I have quite a long association with Vishal-ji and Gulzar sahib.

"We started working together from 'Omkara' and the best part of working with them is to sing the best song and learn the best thing about your craft," Sukhwinder told IANS.

The singer who became famous overnight for his song "Chaiyya Chaiyya" and won Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 1999, crooned many super hit songs like "Ramta Jogi", "Beedi Jalaile", "Fashion Ka Jalwa" to "Marjaani", "Thok De Killi", "Chak De! India" and "Jai Ho", among others.

He also won the National award for the song "Bismil Bismil".

He says that every collaboration teaches him a lot.

"Just think about the versatility of these people who can write and compose "Beedi Jalaile" and "Bismil" with equal ease! So you understand the reason why every collaboration with them teaches me a lot," said Sukhwinder.

Apart from working with legends like Gulzar, Vishal Bhardwaj and A.R. Rahman, the singer also worked with new age music directors like Salim - Sulaiman, Vishal - Shekhar, and Amit Trivedi, among others.

Sharing his experience, he said: "I am not a singer who would say that earlier music was great in film and with time it is deteriorating. I accept the changes in music and grow with it. All the young music directors that I have worked with are very talented and passionate. They are open to experiment."

Talking about the songs of "Ragoon", Sukhwinder said: "Though I won't give you much insight of songs from all I can say that I sung five songs for the film and each song is very different from other. They add value to the story."

The film "Rangoon"., starring Kangana Ranaat, Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor, is expected to be released on February 24, next year.
