Singer Ed Sheeran has confirmed that he is single after splitting from his girlfriend Athina Andrelos, whom he was dating for a year.
The 24-year-old singer revealed that he and Andrelos, who were planning to move in together this year, have gone their separate ways, reports femalefirst.co.uk
Sheeran's split confirmation has come just days after reports emerged that he had agreed to take a break from his relationship with Andrelos, following a row over his antics at a BRIT Awards after-party last month.
Asked on a radio show if the “Lego House” singer is dating anyone, he said: "I wasn't single, I was in a relationship for a long time."
When DJ Kyle Sandilands pressed him on the subject and asked if he is single now, the singer replied: "Yes."
Following the confession, Sheeran appeared surprised that he had been asked the question.
Sandiland's co-host Jackie O then said: "He looks like he's about to start crying - you shouldn't have asked that."
"Erm ... well that's interesting, that's the first time I've spoken about that," Sheeran added.
Sandiland was then very apologetic for asking if he was single, insisting he didn't realise the couple had split. But the singer replied: "I didn't know you were going to ask."
