Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift In Twitter Spat

Darpan News Desk IANS, 22 Jul, 2015 12:51 PM
Rapper Nicki Minaj and singer Taylor Swift were caught in a feud on micro-blogging website Twitter.

Minaj was upset because her "Anaconda" visual is not featured in the Video of the Year category of the MTV Video Music Awards.

After the full nominees were announced on Tuesday, Minaj took to Twitter to express her disappointment, and somehow ended up having a Twitter spat with one of the coveted award's nominees, Swift., reports aceshowbiz.com.

"If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year," Minaj tweeted.

Swift, one of only two female artists nominated for the award, felt attacked by Minaj's remark.

"I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot," the "Blank space" singer responded.

Seemingly confused by Swift's comment, the "Anaconda" hitmaker wrote back: "Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. But u should speak on this... I'm still confused as to why u just tweeted me when I made it abundantly clear..."

Both Minaj and Swift later attempted to end the online argument.

The former then made it clear that she didn't mean to offend anyone when she ranted about the snub. "Nothing I said had to do with Taylor. So what jabs? White media and their tactics. So sad. That's what they want," she said.

As for Swift, she wanted Minaj to perform with her should she win the Video of the Year Award. "If I win, please come up with me!! You're invited to any stage I'm ever on," she wrote.

Despite the Video of the Year snub, Minaj's "Anaconda" is still up for multiple awards at the VMAs, which this year is held on August 30.
