  • Local talent takes centre stage at upcoming Vancouver Fall Home Show
Vancouver’s top home, design, and DIY experts will be uniting at the upcoming Vancouver Fall Home Show, formerly the Vancouver Home + Design Show, back October 26-29, 2017 at the Vancouver Convention Centre - West. The Vancouver Fall Home Show has assembled an expert roster of trusted, homegrown talent, ready to offer practical advice, tackle home reno questions and deliver inspiration for homeowners, renters and aspiring DIY-ers alike.

“The Fall Home Show allows visitors the unique opportunity to have direct access to friendly local experts of all kinds who truly understand Vancouver’s market & trends, including contractors, designers, artists, makers, real estate experts and more, all under one roof,” explains show manager Tyson Kidd. “The Show offers an accessible place for visitors to ask questions, review plans or simply chat about their home dreams and ideas.”

Appearing alongside HGTV Canada stars Sarah Richardson, Kortney & Dave Wilson, and interior designer and stylist Tiffany Pratt are over 325 trusted brands and local experts, including:

1. Vancouver designer Jamie Banfield of Jamie Banfield Design

Local West Coast designer Jamie will be diving into the latest innovations in kitchen and bath design, including current trends and considerations when renovating in those spaces. Jamie will also be lending his eye for style and design to the Double Take feature: a walk through two similar spaces created with different budgets, and the Smart Home presented by BC Hydro: a feature that will show attendees how they can improve their home’s energy efficiency while keeping style top of mind. You can expect top-notch knowledge from Jamie, and his wealth of experience in Vancouver will be sure to leave listeners with inspiration to take on their next home project. Catch Jamie on the Urban Barn Main Stage Friday, October 27 at 2PM.

2. DIY Inspirations: One Nightstand Challenge, Presented by Rust-Oleum Consumer Brands Canada in support of Habitat for Humanity Society of Greater Vancouver

Five of Vancouver’s most stylish tastemakers, including Christie Lohr of Style Nine to Five, Judy Rom of Upcycle That, Leslie Rossi of A Life Well Consumed, Kiara Schwartz of Tobruck Ave., and Aleesha Harris of the Vancouver Sun and Covet & Acquire, have been challenged to reimagine a simple nightstand from basic to bold, using only Rust-Oleum® paints and stains and a frugal $50 design budget. Visitors will have the chance to take the dreamy creations home by placing a silent auction bid on their favourite, with 100% of auction proceeds benefitting Habitat for Humanity Society of Greater Vancouver to provide local families with a safe, affordable place to live.

3. WORKSHOP

Your Pinterest board is about to come to life! Visitors can learn from Vancouver’s best artisans and makers in this hands-on workshop series curated by some of the finest local artisans to create their very own handcrafted home décor and goods. WORKSHOP includes terrariums, basic floral arrangements, and flower crowns with The Flower Factory, lessons in the art of macramé with Saige and Sky, creating your own mug and jewelry in a ceramics workshop with Three Corners Artisan, and learning how to arrange the perfect holiday table with A Plentiful Life.
