  • Review of House of Mish
House of Mish dares to be different; there are no other words to sum up the pieces fashion by the House of Mish. The fall line designed by none other than, Mesha Toor does not fail to shock the runway with her innovative designs.

The name Mesha is well known in the Vancouver fashion industry; from modelling to organizing fashion shows to fundraise for various charities.  This current Miss Universe Canada contestant had a dream which she turned into reality with her hard work and dedication.
Also an honorary mention to Mannu Sandhu, also a candidate for Miss Universe Canada, who has been a helping hand to Mesha along the way to achieving her dreams. Quite impressed with how well the show was organized and executed in a timely manner. Mannu Sandhu left the audience awestruck as she made her entrance wearing a long figure fitting, gorgeous dress. Well stitched, beautiful fabric was also trending a hem tail, further elongating the dress; definitely a Darpan favourite.

At first glance, the designs seemed to scream Bollywood fusion; simple suit designs, trendy for any function. Velvet was a recurring theme in the designs; Royal blues, radiant reds. A few other favourites that caught my eye were the free flowing cocktail dresses with a touch of India. Bold and beautiful!

Last but certainly not least, I would like to mention the showstopper dress worn by Mannu Sandhu, which left everyone in the room breathless. It was a long anarkali inspired black dress, fashioning a sequenced dupatta. Definitely fit for royalty! The all black dress had silver trimmings; simple but can turn any plain Jane into the center of attention for the night.

In some respects the theme was very Austin Powers, foxy Cleopatra inspired with the crazy hair and gold make up it seems for the most part Mesha took her inspiration from the movie as well. Overall, for a first line, very interesting and looking forward to see how she evolves as a designer.
