Show your driving license on smartphone soon

Darpan News Desk IANS, 10 Dec, 2014 11:45 AM
  • Show your driving license on smartphone soon
If you are driving in the US state of Iowa, you may not need to search for the plastic driving license in your pocket as your smartphone will soon show the digital license to the traffic police.

The Iowa Department of Transportation is planning a smartphone driver’s license programme where an app will host the license for you, the Washington Post reported.

The app will also send notifications about traffic or if your license is about to expire.

To begin with, the smartphone driver's license will be piloted by some state employees.

Once successful, the US department of transportation will determine next steps for public use.

“It is really moving beyond a static thing,” Mark Lowe, director of the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicles Division, was quoted as saying.
