I was very excited at the thought of bringing my contribution to further our relationship between India and the five important provinces in Western Canada, namely British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Yukon and Northwest Territories.

It’s an honor. It’s a milestone not only for me but also for our community. There was a time when people of colour were not even allowed to vote.

Being unapologetically present and visible is a start. I have always been an advocate for social justice and I will remain that.

The strict safety plans in place, which include enhanced cleaning protocols, frequent hand hygiene, and requiring students and staff to stay home when ill, are designed to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 as well as colds and flu.

Many British Columbians have become severely ill and many others have lost their loved ones to COVID-19. This is a tragedy for all of us, and my colleagues and I feel this loss.
