The night opened with Beyonce who was joined by her husband Jay Z. The couple performed on Bey’s ‘Drunk in Love’ that was surely one of the best highlights of the night.

More than 29 million viewers were on their couch watching the star studded night, according to news reports. Last year the ratings touched a 28.4 million mark with a 10.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

Performances by Daft Punk, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Madonna, Lorde, Taylor Swift, Paul McCatrney, Ringo Starr and Willie Nelson, were seen at the award night.

Teen sensation Lorde came on stage with purple lips, nails dipped in black, and white makeup. She also performed her popular number ‘Royals,’ that received Song of the Year award. The 17-year-old New Zealander seemed surprised as the award was announced and let her co-writer Joel Little gave his speech first.
