Guwahati, April 9 (IANS) Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Assam on Tuesday where he is scheduled to hold a roadshow and address a public rally. According to a senior BJP leader, HM Shah will address a public gathering in the Chukuli Bhoria area in the Lakhimpur Parliamentary constituency.
The death toll in a blast at a chemical manufacturing unit in Telangana's Sangareddy district rose to six on Thursday as the body of one more worker was found under the debris. Five persons were killed and 16 injured when a chemical reactor exploded in SB Organics Limited, a bulk drugs manufacturing company, at Chandapur village in Hathnoora Mandal on Wednesday evening.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) along with the National Central Bureau – Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, has successfully brought back a notorious gold smuggler wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), to Mumbai, said a CBI statement here on Thursday. The accused fugitive is identified as Shokat Ali, who had a Red Corner Notice against him on September 13, 2021, and the operations were coordinated through the InterPol channels.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Majithia on Thursday condemned the decision to abolish the 60:40 ratio vis-a-vis recruitment of senior medical officers in the Chandigarh Health Department by the Central government. Reacting to a notice by the Health Department in which the recruitment rules have been changed, Majithia said, “The UT administration has taken upon itself to change the rules for recruitment to deny deputation rights to Punjab government officers in the union territory.”
