The Bihar government has taken precautionary measures to address the potential spread of the virus after over five cases of Human Metapneumo Virus (HMPV) have been reported in the country. Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey has directed authorities to ensure preparedness, issuing guidelines and setting up measures across health institutions in the state.
A Chandigarh Police Inspector was injured on Tuesday in a clash with Quami Insaaf Morcha members here after the police fired teargas shells and resorted to cane-charge to prevent them from marching towards Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's residence. Five children tested positive for the virus in Karnataka (2), Gujarat (1), and Tamil Nadu (2). The affected children are recovering well, while one has been discharged, the health authorities said. In a video message, Nadda said that the HMPV virus is not a new virus.
