Delhi Woman Raped During Job Hunt, Teen Assaulted At Birthday Party

    Four years after the horrific Nirbhaya gang-rape that scarred India, two rapes have been reported in Delhi. One of the rape survivors is a 16-year-old allegedly gang-raped by her classmates.
     
     
    Last night, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped in a car near south Delhi's Moti Bagh. The driver of the car, which is owned by an official of the paramilitary CISF, has been arrested.
     
     
    The woman, who lives in Noida, was in Delhi to look for a job. On her way home, she was waiting for a taxi when the accused man stopped and allegedly offered to drop her. The car has a Home Ministry sticker.
     
     
    The woman has alleged that after driving a short distance, the driver parked at a deserted sport and raped her. He allegedly ran away when she screamed for help. A police patrol team found her.
     
     
    In the second case on Wednesday, a teenager was allegedly gang-raped by two classmates at a birthday party in west Delhi.
     
     
     
     
    The girl has told the police that the friend who invited her to the party forced her to drink with him. When she passed out, the friend allegedly forced himself on her and later called another friend to join him. The boys allegedly dragged her out of the house and left her by the roadside later.
     
     
    The girl reportedly borrowed a phone from a passer-by and called her parents.
     
     
    The boys have been detained and sent to a juvenile home.
     
     
    The incidents have provoked anger on a day remembered for the Delhi gang-rape in which a young student was assaulted and tortured by six men on a moving bus in 2012. The 23-year-old woman, who came to be known as Nirbhaya, died 13 days later. The case led to angry protests and candlelight marches and spurred sweeping changes in laws on crimes against women.
     
     
    Nirbhaya's mother said: "In four years, we have not got justice...Today the same incidents take place...small girls are raped.
     
     
    Many commented on social media that the rapes highlight how Delhi remains unsafe four years after the Nirbhaya gang-rape.
