Indian Woman, 61, Sweeps Homes To Earn Living. Her Sons Are Government Employees

IANS, 02 Apr, 2019 08:43 PM

A 61-year-old woman living alone for nearly 15 years had to take up sweeping people's homes after her two sons - a superintendent in the sales tax office and another a bus conductor - left her to fend for herself.

The plight of the woman, Pramila Nana Pawar, currently living in Maharashtra's Nashik district, came to light in a video which went viral on social media following which the police helped in reuniting her with one of her sons.

The woman, originally from the neighbouring Nandurbar, lost her husband in 1995. She then worked hard to provide education to her sons.

However, due to some misunderstandings, the sons separated from her, forcing her to live alone here and take up sweeping up at people's homes to earn a living, a police source said.

For last many years, the woman was not even aware of her sons' whereabouts, the source said.

Last week, a video clip went viral on social media in which she mentioned that one of her sons Satish Pawar was a police sub-inspector and the other, Atish Pawar, an employee of the MSRTC.

Nashik Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nangre-Patil also saw the video clip and asked officials to search for her son in the police department.

The police could not trace the man in their department but later found him to be employed in GST section of the sales tax office in Nashik.

Satish Pawar and his mother were on Tuesday called to the police commissioner's office where both of them were counselled to clear their misunderstandings.

The two then offered sweets to each other and the son took his mother to his home, the police commissioner told reporters.
