A man has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly slapping his 4-year-old son repeatedly, the police said on Monday.
Azruddin Qutybuddin Shaikh, 30, was arrested after a video of him slapping his son went viral, Senior Inspector Deepak Pagare said.
"The man said he hit the child as he was constantly crying. The video was shot by his wife," he added.
Police said that the man has been charged under the Juvenile Justice Act but was released on bail.
The boy's family has alleged that he killed himself after he was sent back home by school authorities over non-payment of fee, police said.
LVAD is a pump that is used for patients who have reached end-stage of heart failure. It is inserted inside the patient with thin wire emerging out of the body linked to a power source outside.
The clamour for special category status to the state was raised by Punjab Health Minister Brahm Mohindra in a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda.
The phone of the woman has been seized, the official said, adding that her family had been informed.
