Sikh Youths Set Aside The Religious Code, Use Turbans To Save Eight Men From Drowning

Darpan News Desk, 30 Sep, 2015 11:29 AM
Sikh youths in Punjab with their chivalrous act have come under spotlight as a hope in an era of religious terrorism.

The incident occurred on Friday when a group of youngsters from Sarrafa Bazaar had gone for Ganesha idol “visarjan” in a canal and they lost their balance to gushing water at Sular Ghaat near Sunam village.

Inderpal Singh, the Sikh youth who was sitting on the canal embankment, on spotting the drowning youths immediately took off his turban to save the life of those drowning.

He hurled his turban towards them and pulled them out with its help. Setting aside the religious code, this young man has set the new norms of humanity. Under the tenets of Sikhism, turban can only be removed at home, during a bath.

In May, a similar incident took place where a Sikh youth in New Zealand, Harman Singh, used his turban to bind the wounds of a young boy who had been hit by a car.
