In a marriage solemnised at Padiala village near Kurali yesterday, the groom’s family had to pay Rs 15 lakh to the bride’s family when after “anand karaj”, the groom refused to accept the marriage.
 
The groom belongs to a village near Kharar while the bride belongs to another village near Gharuan. The “anand karaj” was performed at Gurdwara Kartarsar Sahib at Padiala village. Immediately after the “anand karaj”, the groom refused to accept the marriage.
 
Elders from both sides tried their best, but the groom refused to budge. Following this, the elders decided to end the marriage on the spot.
 
It was decided that the groom’s family would pay Rs 15 lakh to the bride’s family on account of various expenses incurred on the marriage. 
 
Two post-dated cheques were given on the spot.
