  • Meet the Kapur Family
Puneet Kapur works as a Sales Associate at The Brick. Rhythm Kapur is continuing her studies.

Why did you decide to migrate to Canada?

Canada, being the country of opportunities, we decided to migrate to the country for a better quality of life, and a secure and bright future for us.

Which year did you migrate?

We migrated in September 2019.

What were you first impressions of Canada?

Canada is a wonderful place to settle down; it has a very clean and peaceful environment. People are friendly and helpful, and immigrants are warmly welcomed here.

Where did you stay when you reached Canada? Hotel, relative or friends place?

We were warmly welcomed by our family friend and his family. We stayed with them for a couple of days, and they made our stay very comfortable and homely.

What difficulties/challenges did you face when you and your family moved here?

Like more immigrants, we faced many difficulties after moving to Canada. We had to start our lives from scratch and even got separated from our eight-year-old daughter for almost a year as she was not able to join us.

How was your experience getting a job here? Was it easy or troublesome?

Finding work in a new country was not easy; we had to face many difficulties to get a job because of our business background. But we didn’t get discouraged and kept on moving to get an opportunity to move forward.

How do you see your future in Canada?

We are very fortunate to live in such a prosperous and beautiful country. A person who makes an effort and works hard can always succeed. I am working on my goals to build a bright future in Canada for my family and me.

How has your overall journey in Canada been so far?

Our journey in Canada has been good so far, as we were lucky to have people who have been very supporting and caring, and always willing to help us in all situations.

Biggest problem

To get a good job, and to buy a home in Canada as there are many obstacles such as mortgage and other home expenses.

Resolution

To start my own business with my professional education, and to live a life of quality with my family.

Advice for immigrants

Be prepared for tough times, be open to learning new skills, and always be positive and never lose hope.

Memory

We always miss our family members in India, and our festivals that we used to celebrate with our family and friends.
