Surrey RMCP is informing the public of a road closure in effect following a serious 2 vehicle collision on Highway 17 between 104th Avenue and 108th Avenue.

Police are now confirming that a 37-year-old man has died following a collision between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle that occurred on September 2, 2021 at 2:55 a.m. The collision occurred on Highway 17 between the 104 Avenue and 108 Avenue exits.

While the cause of collision has not been determined, initial indications are that the passenger vehicle was pulled over on the side of the highway when it was struck by a westbound tractor-trailer.  Impairment is not believed to be a factor. The driver remained at the scene and has spoken to police. The driver of the tractor –trailer was not physically injured.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) have been deployed to the scene to conduct a full investigation.

Highway 17 between the 104 Avenue and 108 Avenue exits were closed since the morning but have now just opened.
