  • 51 year old male pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle

Vancouver – Vancouver Police are investigating the death of a 51-year-old man after he was hit by a vehicle in the West End just after midnight today.

Officers were called to Davie and Thurlow streets in response to a two-car collision between a Dodge Ram and a Toyota Prius. The impact of that collision resulted in the Dodge Ram skidding and hitting a wheelchair-bound man on the sidewalk of the intersection.

Investigators are determining whether impairment was a contributing factor.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has dash-cam video, is asked to contact VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.

This is Vancouver’s 10th pedestrian fatality of 2021.
