Abbotsford Senior Robbed And Beaten, Suspect Arrested

    On Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 1:50 pm, a male suspect followed an 86-year-old man into his apartment building in the 2800 block of Clearbrook Road. 
     
    The suspect entered the victim’s suite and assaulted him. The victim was left bleeding on the floor while the suspect rummaged through drawers and took jewelry and a wallet before fleeing. The victim was found by his wife at 2:30 pm.
     
    Abbotsford Police and BC Ambulance attended the scene. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of a variety of injuries including bruises, lacerations and injury to his shoulder.
     
    APD Patrol Division officers reviewed security video from the apartment building and tracked the use of the victim’s credit card to a local business. While in the area of that business, an APD officer spotted the suspect and arrested him.
     
     
    The investigation is now being handled by the Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit which is recommending several charges against the 45-year-old suspect including robbery, break and enter, aggravated assault and the theft and use of a credit card. The victim remains in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries.
