British Columbia Man Died In Ethiopia Plane Crash: Reports

The Canadian Press, 11 Mar, 2019 08:51 PM

An environmentalist from British Columbia is being identified in media reports as one of the victims in Sunday's deadly crash of an Ethiopian Airlines plane.

Friends of Micah Messent are posting their remembrances of him on Facebook and his death was reported by media outlets based on information from the B.C. government and members of his family.

In a social media post, Messent said he had been selected by the United Nations Association of Canada to attend the fourth session of the UN Environment Assembly in Nairobi.

In the post, Messent said he was flying to Kenya on Sunday where he would "have the chance to meet with other passionate youth and leaders from around the world and explore how we can tackle the biggest challenges that are facing our generation."

Eighteen Canadians were among the 157 passengers and crew who died Sunday when an Ethiopian Airlines plane went down shortly after departing from the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa.
