Charges laid in New Westminster kidnapping case

Darpan News Desk New Westminster Police, 05 May, 2023 10:54 AM
  • Charges laid in New Westminster kidnapping case

Police say two men have been charged after a resident of New Westminster was kidnapped last week.

They say police from that city worked with specialty units from the R-C-M-P, Vancouver Police Department, gang squad and other agencies to intercept two armed suspects and safely rescue the person who'd been taken hostage.

A 40-year-old man from Kamloops has been charged with kidnapping, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon and use of an imitation firearm, while a 42-year-old man from Vernon faces the same charges, except assault.

Police say both suspects remain in custody as investigators continue to gather evidence.
