Facebook rental scams: Surrey RCMP

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 13 Jul, 2023 04:01 PM
  • Facebook rental scams: Surrey RCMP

R-C-M-P in Surrey are warning the public of Facebook rental scams that are on the rise targeting people looking for rental properties.

Mounties say scammers advertise a property and explain that a deposit is required to secure the property due to high demand.

Communication with the renter usually ends once an e-transfer of funds is sent and without the rental property being seen.

Police are urging people not to send money or provide credit card information to someone without verifying what you are paying for.
