Fatal collision: Highway 1 at Grandview HOV exit, Burnaby closes 2 Westbound lanes

  • Fatal collision: Highway 1 at Grandview HOV exit, Burnaby closes 2 Westbound lanes

On August 18, 2021 at approximately 8:10 AM, Burnaby RCMP, BC Highway Patrol and Emergency Services responded to a fatal collision on westbound Highway 1 at the Grandview HOV exit.

Upon arrival it was determined that a pedestrian had attempted to cross the highway and was struck by a vehicle. BC Highway Patrol has conduct of the investigation which is in its early stages.

Two westbound lanes are currently closed and motorists can expect delays while police investigate. Motorists can monitor DriveBC.ca with respect to the delay.

Police are seeking information about a second vehicle which left the scene after rear-ending the vehicle that hit the pedestrian.

Anyone with information about this crash, including any dashboard camera video, is asked to call BC Highway Patrol in Burnaby at 604-526-9744.
