Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 03 Dec, 2024 02:54 PM
  • Fatal crash on Trans Canada Highway

Two people are dead and a third is in critical condition after a single-vehicle crash on the Trans Canada Highway in British Columbia.

The RCMP in Ashcroft, west of Kamloops, say they were called to the scene Sunday at around 10:15 p.m.

Police say in a statement that the SUV appears to have been going "far above the speed limit" when it veered off the road, hit a culvert and overturned.

The statement says the driver and one of the two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The second passenger was found outside the vehicle with life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Police say the crash is still under investigation and they are asking anyone with information to contact them.
