Gautam Gambhir Laments State Of Affairs In Delhi. AAP Asks Him To Do A Surprise Check – READ

Darpan News Desk IANS, 21 Jan, 2019 10:16 PM

Gautam Gambhir expressing his views and thoughts on Twitter is something Twitterati have witnessed over the past few years. The former Indian cricketer is a vocal voice, when it comes to the social media website.

On a number of occasions, he has strongly opined on the social media, be it about any subject. And on Saturday, he openly let go of his frustrations regarding the sad state in the National Capital.

"I am Delhi. Shivering on the footpath, I am Delhi. Crawling in hospitals, I am Delhi. Fighting with the system, I am Delhi. Counting my breath in the bitter air, I am Delhi. Hiding my nakedness behind a muffler, saffron and Khadi, I am Delhi," he wrote.

On Sunday evening, AAP legislator Saurabh Bharadwaj responded to his tweet and invited him to "take the challenge".

"@GautamGambhir ji, Take the challenge, lets do surprise checks at Night Shelters, Hospitals in Delhi. No other BJP Govt will throw this challenge," Mr Bharadwaj tweeted.

Here's what the cricketer had tweeted in Hindi: "I am Delhi. Shivering on the footpath, I am Delhi. Crawling in hospitals, I am Delhi. Fighting with the system, I am Delhi. Counting my breath in the bitter air, I am Delhi. Hiding my nakedness behind a muffler, saffron and Khadi, I am Delhi."

The AAP's social media strategist Ankit Lal tagged Gautam Gambhir in multiple tweets and asked him to accept the AAP's challenge.

Gautam Gambir, 37, had recently brushed off speculation that he is entering politics. "There have been speculative stories that I am joining politics. Please allow me to clarify that there's no truth in this. At the moment, I am merely a retired cricketer who like all of you is waiting for India's series win in Australia," he tweeted on January 3.

Mr Gambhir, who has scored more than 10,000 international runs for India, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket last month.
