A man charged in a fatal hit and run in Vancouver last year has pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death.

Eoghan Byrne was killed on July 19th, 2022 in the Kitsilano neighbourhood in a collision that was captured on surveillance video.

The video shows Byrne flying several metres after being struck by a vehicle that does not stop.

A sentencing hearing for Alexandre Romero Arata is scheduled for January 11th.

Police in Chilliwack say a 29 year old man is in police custody following a high risk incident in which shots were allegedly fired at police. The call to shelter in place has been cancelled and an "active, ongoing, high-risk police incident" that began Monday night has been resolved.
