A man charged in a fatal hit and run in Vancouver last year has pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death.
Eoghan Byrne was killed on July 19th, 2022 in the Kitsilano neighbourhood in a collision that was captured on surveillance video.
The video shows Byrne flying several metres after being struck by a vehicle that does not stop.
A sentencing hearing for Alexandre Romero Arata is scheduled for January 11th.
"It is alarming to us anytime someone pretends to be a police officer. Especially in our situation where that person tried to use that position to take money from someone," said Corporal Melissa Jongema.

Travellers who are not fully vaccinated must test on both the first and eighth days of their mandatory 14-day quarantine, unless exempt.
The VPD have released a photo of Justin Mohrmann, in the hopes that someone who saw him before the stabbing will come forward with more information. Police say Mohrmann was stabbed while walking near Smithe and Homer streets the morning of July 11.
