  • Home set on fire in Richmond

Mounties in Richmond are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect of alleged arson.

They released surveillance footage of a man pouring flammable liquid on the front door of a home before setting it on fire around 3 A-M on March 27th.

Police say a 23-year-old resident of the home was able to extinguish the fire, leaving the home with what they say was relatively minor damage.

Mounties describe the suspect as a middle-aged Asian male wearing a dark surgical face mask, glasses and a baseball cap, and say he may be linked to a dark coloured, four-door Hyundai or Toyota Corolla.

“When they should have been welcomed, they were instead met by hostility and prejudice. Canadian immigration officials refused to let them leave the boat. The passengers were confined to the ship for two months, during which supplies of food and even water were restricted, making conditions intolerable".
