IHIT called in after a body found in Pitt Meadows

  • IHIT called in after a body found in Pitt Meadows

Ridge Meadows RCMP are confirming that a man was located deceased in Pitt Meadows.

On Monday, at around noon police located a man’s body in a wooded area west of Golden Ears bridge.

The police investigation has revealed this incident to be suspicious in nature and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been deployed.

While it is early in the investigation, the man has been identified and police advise there is no threat to general public safety. No names are being released at this time pending notification of the family.

The board says the Geotech Aviation commercial chopper was conducting survey operations near Kitsault, between Prince Rupert and Stewart, when it collided with terrain. It says military aircraft and search and rescue technicians found the fatally injured pilot, who was the sole occupant on board.

When officers asked them to leave, some of the youths refused and continued to swear and yell at them. One of the youths repeatedly kicked an officer, and was arrested for assaulting a police officer, obstruction, mischief, and causing a disturbance.
