The Canadian Press, 04 Sep, 2015 10:43 AM
CALGARY — A Calgary man charged with second-degree murder in the hit-and-run death of a gas station worker has hired a new lawyer.

Joshua Cody Mitchell, who is 20, appeared in court on closed-circuit television and had the case adjourned until Sept. 18 to give the new lawyer, Kim Ross, time to review evidence in the case.

Mitchell is also charged with possession of stolen property, along with one count of theft of $113 in gas.

Gas station attendant Maryam Rashidi, who was 35, was hit by a stolen pickup truck June 7 while trying to stop the driver from leaving without paying.

She was struck and carried along on the hood before she fell off and was run over.

Although bail has not been discussed the Crown is already said it would oppose his release.
