Justin Trudeau Urges Liberal Delegates To Replace 'Outdated' Party Constitution

The Canadian Press, 28 May, 2016 12:34 PM
  • Justin Trudeau Urges Liberal Delegates To Replace 'Outdated' Party Constitution
WINNIPEG — Justin Trudeau is pushing for Liberal delegates to vote for a new constitution for the governing party.

The prime minister made his remarks supporting the change during his speech at the Liberal's policy convention in Winnipeg.

He says the proposed new constitution would bring the grassroots closer to the party leadership.

But some delegates say that the new document would give more power to the party brass.

The new constitution will require support from two-thirds of the delegates to pass.

Delegates will vote on it later Saturday.
