Police say a man is dead after his pickup collided with a semi-truck near Quesnel.
Mounties say the crash happened on November 29th just before 4:30 p-m on Highway 97 north of the community.
Police say the 37-year-old driver of the pickup, a man from Quesnel, was pronounced death at the scene.
The semi driver was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Mark Jennings-Bates, with the Kaslo Search and Rescue, says a skilled helicopter pilot was able to navigate the winds and thick smoke to rescue the hikers from the side of an alpine lake. He says the four were well prepared and used an iPhone's emergency SOS feature to provide rescuers with their precise location.
