BURNABY, B.C. - A man has been shot and killed in Burnaby, B.C.

A statement from Burnaby RCMP says the attack happened just after 11 p.m. Tuesday along a busy stretch of Hastings Street near Confederation Park.

The unnamed victim died at the scene.

Police say they were called about 20 minutes later to a report of a vehicle burning on a street near Burnaby Lake.

Investigators are now appealing for witnesses or dashcam video related to either the shooting or the burning vehicle.

Few other details have been released and police say the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is now leading the case.

Karanveer Sahota, a Grade 10 student at McNally High School, was waiting for a bus on the afternoon of April 8 when he was assaulted at around 2:44pm.  According to Edmonton police, Sahota and the 7 accused were known to each other.
