  • Man out on release for violent offence arrested after stabbing in Abbotsford, B.C.

Police in Abbotsford, B.C., say a business owner sustained "life-threatening injuries" while at work during a stabbing first reported Saturday morning.

Emergency crews discovered the injured man following what police say was an "altercation with an unknown individual attempting to steal from the premises."

Police say the suspect fled by foot before their arrival, but caught him minutes later in the backyard of a nearby residence.

Police say they arrested a 40-year-old man, currently out on statutory release from a previous violent offence.

The arrested man remains in police custody, while the injured business owner was transported to a Vancouver-area trauma hospital.

Abbotsford Police are asking anyone who was in the Townline Road and Maclure Road area between 9:15 a.m. and 10 a.m. to come forward with more information.
