  • Manitoba reports first case of measles following outbreak in 2014

WINNIPEG — Manitoba is reporting its first case of measles this year.

The province's chief public health officer is to give details on the confirmed case later today.

Last year, Manitoba saw its worst outbreak of measles in decades with nine cases.

Public health officials say the disease hadn't surfaced for several years before that.

Toronto public health officials are reporting several cases of measles, which appear to have been locally transmitted.

Measles can cause a rash, runny nose and cough, as well as more serious complications such as deafness and brain damage.
