A former security guard at a university in Langley, B-C, who was convicted of manslaughter will not be going to prison.
The B-C Supreme Court found the 55-year-old man guilty in the 2020 incident at Trinity Western University that resulted in the death of a 30-year-old.
The man got an 18-month conditional sentence to be served in the community.
The Crown had wanted the judge to hand him a five-year prison sentence.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death after an unoccupied cargo truck hit and killed a pedestrian in Surrey, B.C. The not-for-profit Community Legal Assistance Society officially launched the program Tuesday, which offers three hours of legal advice to people regardless of age, gender or income, or whether they have reported the assault to police.
A female pedestrian is dead after she was struck by a vehicle in Richmond over the weekend. Richmond R-C-M-P say the crash happened on Oct. 14 at 6 a-m in the 7000 block of Granville Avenue.
