No Scary Ending For This Halloween Tale Thanks To Coquitlam RCMP

Darpan News Desk, 30 Oct, 2019 07:29 PM

It started as a routine patrol on a cold October night when word came from the street; a Burke Mountain family was missing their much-loved 6-foot-tall Halloween-themed lawn globe.

The Coquitlam RCMP Uniformed Crime Reduction Unit (UCRU to our friends) was on the case.

We know every gin joint, candy shop, and crime-house in this neighbourhood- but it was too early for candy and no time for gin. We turned up our collars and went for a look-see while dogs barked at our shadows.

It took two days of hunting, but at 1:00 a.m. sharp, and a few kilometres away, we spotted our target; a big ‘Happy Halloween’ globe was leering from a lawn where the home’s occupants are ‘well-known’ to us, says Corporal Michael McLaughlin with Coquitlam RCMP. Of course, they didn’t know nothin’ about nothin’, but we knew, and they knew, that the decoration didn’t belong. We seized the globe and took it back to the home where it belongs.

The mystery of who stole the lawn-globe may never be solved, but that doesn’t matter so much to the family who has their decoration back in time for Halloween. No charges for the thief on this one, and no charge to the family because that’s just what we do.

Keep your eyes open this Halloween, folks, and don’t hesitate to call us if you see anything suspicious. The non-emergency number is 604-945-1550 and a crime in progress is 911. We’ll keep a light on for you.
