Police in Nanaimo say a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a shooting in a home on Saturday.

R-C-M-P say they responded to reports of shots fired at around 6 p-m.

They say the suspect had already left and an extensive search wasn't successful.

Police say investigators believe the shooting was targeted and there is no further risk to the public.
