Surrey Man, 21, Carrying Imitation Firearm Arrested

  • Surrey Man, 21, Carrying Imitation Firearm Arrested
SURREY, B.C. — The RCMP in Surrey say a man who had what turned out to be an imitation firearm gave police some anxious moments Saturday morning.
 
Police say they received a report that a man dressed in camouflage was carrying what appeared to be a long barrelled firearm.
 
A number of officers responded and approached the man with their guns drawn.
 
It turned out the man was carrying an air rifle that looked like the Colt carbine that the RCMP carried.
 
Police say the man was going to an air gun competition and obeyed police orders when he was handcuffed.
 
Police couldn't tell whether or not the gun was real until they examined it and they say the incident could have had serious consequences if the 21-year-old Surrey resident hadn't followed police instructions.
