Police on Vancouver Island say they have arrested a suspect after a suspicious fire at a home in Sidney.
R-C-M-P say officers responded just before 2 p-m yesterday. They say the blaze required a response from the North Saanich, Sidney and Central Saanich Fire Departments.
One suspect was arrested at the scene along Lochside Drive and the Mounties are asking anyone with information to contact them.
The investigation by Surrey's ethics commissioner says Rob Stutt broke the council's code of conduct on Nov. 14 when he voted at a meeting to decide the fate of the transition. The move to the Surrey Police Service was rejected in a 5-4 vote.

Witnesses told police, the suspect was seen approaching the victim wearing a mask and carrying a baseball bat. The suspect then allegedly hit the victim with the bat and kicked him before fleeing on foot with a group of 4-5 youths. Bystanders provided first aid to the 18-year man until such time that emergency first responders arrived on scene.
