Trial dates for Nelson Hart expected to be set next month in prison incident

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 09 Oct, 2014 11:49 AM

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - The case of a Newfoundland man released from prison after murder charges were dropped will return to court next month to set trial dates on separate charges.

Nelson Hart was not present today when his case was called in St. John's provincial court.

The matter was adjourned until Nov. 28 to set trial dates on charges following an alleged incident at a St. John's prison in June 2013.

The charges include uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and assaulting a peace officer.

The Crown recently dropped first-degree murder charges against Hart.

The move came after the Supreme Court of Canada upheld an appeal of his 2007 conviction in the drowning deaths of his three-year-old twin daughters.

The court ruled that confessions Hart made to undercover Mounties couldn't be used against him.
