ST-HYACINTHE, Que. — Two Quebec teens charged in an alleged murder plot involving their peers will be sent for a psychiatric evaluation.

The boys, aged 14 and 16, appeared before a youth court judge in St-Hyacinthe today and had their case put off until Oct. 18.

They face a total of 18 charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit sexual assault.

The older of the two also faces charges of assault, aggravated assault and weapons possession, while the younger accused faces an assault charge.

A bail hearing was expected but the accused agreed to the evaluation, which will take place at the Pinel Institute psychiatric facility in Montreal.

The teens were impassive as they stood before youth court Judge Viviane Primeau with guards on either side of them.

They will remain detained pending the evaluation.

The teenagers were arrested last week.
