Unmasked man spits on face of security guard at the Dollarama store in Guildford mall: Surrey RCMP

Surrey RCMP is seeking assistance with furthering an investigation into the assault on a security guard at the Dollarama store in Guildford mall.
Surrey RCMP began investigating this assault after receiving a copy of a video from CTV reporters who had located it on social media. The incident had not yet been reported to the police. The video shows an unmasked man spitting in the face of a security guard who was escorting him from the store.
Through investigation officers have identified the security guard’s employer and learned the incident occurred on April 6, 2021 at approximately 5:30 p.m. Investigators are now seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect of the assault.
Investigators are also appealing to any witnesses, including the person who filmed the video, to come forward to help advance this investigation.
“The video of the assault on the security guard was disgusting,” says Superintendent Manly Burleigh, Surrey RCMP Operations Officer. “This type of behaviour is unacceptable – we urge anyone that has experienced this type of violence to report the incident to police.”
Anyone with more information, including dash cam footage around the Guildford mall area between 5:00 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. on April 6, 2021, is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2021-50419.
The health unit says all shifts will be suspended as the workers self-isolate for two weeks starting tomorrow as everyone at the site might have had high-risk exposure to COVID-19.
Brar is known to live a transient lifestyle in the Fraser Valley area, specifically between Abbotsford and Langley. Brar is a 47-year-old man, standing 5 ft 7, 132 lbs, thin build, brown eyes and black hair; there is no clothing description.
The victim made her way to a nearby overdose prevention site, where she reported the assault to staff, who then called police. Police located the suspect and he was arrested. Charges related to the assault and the verbal comments have been recommended.
In a press briefing organized by the think-tank Chatham House in London, Peter Daszak estimated that collective scientific research might be able to pin down how animals carrying COVID-19 infected the first people in Wuhan identified last December.
