Vancouver Canucks Forward Derek Dorsett Set To Undergo Neck Surgery

    Vancouver Canucks forward Derek Dorsett is set to undergo neck surgery, the club announced Monday.
     
    The cervical fusion surgery to repair disc degeneration will be performed at a spine clinic in Los Angeles, the Canucks said in a statement.
     
    The team added that Dorsett is expected to make a full recovery, but there is no timeline for his return to the ice.
     
    The 29-year-old has one goal, three assists and 33 penalty minutes this season, but hasn't played since getting injured in the first period of a game against Arizona on Nov. 17.
     
    "The decision to perform surgery was made after a thorough review of our options, including non-surgical treatment and rehabilitation," Canucks general manager Jim Benning said in a release. "Derek is an important member of our team and we are optimistic for a full recovery."
     
    The Canucks open a five-game road trip Tuesday in New Jersey.
