Vancouver Canucks Forward Derek Dorsett Set To Undergo Neck Surgery

Darpan News Desk, 05 Dec, 2016 01:56 PM
Vancouver Canucks forward Derek Dorsett is set to undergo neck surgery, the club announced Monday.

The cervical fusion surgery to repair disc degeneration will be performed at a spine clinic in Los Angeles, the Canucks said in a statement.

The team added that Dorsett is expected to make a full recovery, but there is no timeline for his return to the ice.

The 29-year-old has one goal, three assists and 33 penalty minutes this season, but hasn't played since getting injured in the first period of a game against Arizona on Nov. 17.

"The decision to perform surgery was made after a thorough review of our options, including non-surgical treatment and rehabilitation," Canucks general manager Jim Benning said in a release. "Derek is an important member of our team and we are optimistic for a full recovery."

The Canucks open a five-game road trip Tuesday in New Jersey.
